Alpha Space Fighter - Development - Part 4

With this blog comes an actual name "Alpha Space Fighter"

As well as some new art work, and a "Made with Unity" page. The art is currently place holder, as I will need to sort out some with a much higher resolution for press packs and so on.

Most of the core updates this time around were around getting the game running correctly, and adding in functions that would be expected. These include saving of game progress, remembering settings, and so on. And it was about this time that I got a bit carried away with adding more and more stuff.

There is also a big change in the ways the game can be played. If you dont like using swipe/one touch controls you can now use buttons, as well as an optional auto-fire. Most of the saving has been implemented so things like total kills and what options you have ticked are remembered next time you launch the game.

There has also been modifications into how the camera changes are handled so the lighting now works a lot better.

There are also changes in the lanes so they appear to go on forever, rather than be abruptly cut off at the start and finish, and the skybox now rotates as you play.

The UI update was also started, the back end for the shop has started to be put in place, with there being a readout for how many Creds have been earned.
A new hull and shield display showing a sectioned read out and a percentage indicator. The percentage indicator also changes colour depending on how much of each is left.

Next up where tweaks to the particals. Additional particals have been added to all the explosions, as well as the addition of dust particals moving towards the player. An additional set was also added to the engines so that under 40% hull they will start to smoke.

Find the updated game here.

Thanks for reading.
