This week Ive been working on the UI for the game. The design hasnt been finished yet, so this post is more about getting the elements in and working. The update is only going through to the mobile version at this stage.
First I started with the options menu. In the last update I added controls for camera change right in the game over screen, so decided it was time to move them. On top of that, controls for music, sound effects, and vibration were added, as well as a slider to control swipe length.
I implemented the slider, as I couldnt find a swipe setting that worked well for everyone.
Next up was the game play UI. Changing the health and shield counters over to graphics was the first step. Next added a pause menu, with the addition of being able to view the options menu while in there. The stats from you current game, Health, Shield, and Score, remain visible when in the pause menu.
Small addition of shop and credit buttons to the replay screen.
As well as the addition of the shop menu in the next image, the keen observer will note the new skybox for in game. It really helps set the tone for the game much better, and brings out the lighting a lot. While the shop is not yet functioning, it gives a good idea for features to come. The only thing left to decide is what the last to upgrades will be, maybe explosive shield?
And finally for this update, an icon for the Android build.
